Millions of poor cataract patients living in the countryside of China cannot afford medical treatment. Many like this boy can only place their hope on the outside.
“The hospital eye-train always stops at the remote regions of China. Before the eye-train arrives, local branches of the China Disabled Persons’ Federation, the All-China Women's Federation and the Ministry of Health will help to bring patients around the area to the local support hospital for check-up. After the check-up, patients are sent back to their homes to wait for the arrival of “Lifeline Express”. When the eye-train arrives, patients will again be taken to the local support hospital for a final check-up and then taken to the eye-train for cataract-removal surgery. Patients often arrive 1 to 2 days in advance of the surgical operation.“
