Fund-raising
The self-drive Car Expedition is one of the major fund-raising programmes of Lifeline Express. Over 40 cars are in the motorcade.
“All the operating funds of Lifeline Express are raised by the Lifeline Express Hong Kong Foundation (established in 1997) and the Chinese Foundation for Lifeline Express (established in 2002). Both Foundations organize fund-raising activities in their respective localities to support the operating costs of Lifeline Express. The average running cost for one hospital eye-train is RMB$8 million per year, hence RMB$24 million for 3 eye-trains each year.“
